Witness and Be Prepared

READ: Acts 1:1-11
“When is mom coming home?” one boy asked his father as they watched the plane that carried her to Florida.
“She’ll be home in a couple of days,” the father said reassuringly to his son. He also informed him that she would com back just the same as she left. Then he told his son that his mom wanted him to tell people that she would be coming home soon and that they should do the work around the house that she would ordinarily do, so everything would be ready when she came home.
In the same way, the angel told the disciples that Jesus is going to come back one day in the same way He left. “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." We should also be Jesus’ witnesses and be prepared for His coming, for we do not know the time of His coming.
Just as the boy was waiting for his mother and did work for her, we too should do the same for Jesus.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What can we do for Jesus? How can we be prepared for His coming? How do you think the disciples felt watching Jesus go into heaven?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask Jesus for His help in our witnessing. Give thanks for Jesus’ coming. Ask Jesus to make us patient as we wait for His coming.
