God's Word is Spiritual Water

READ: Isaiah 55:10-13
In spring many of us plant flowers. Flowers need water and sun to grow strong and beautiful. As long as they get the appropriate amount of water and sun, the flowers will flourish. If the water supply stops, weeds will take over, and starve the flower of any nourishment. The flower will die, unless you pull the weeds around it, water it, and fertilize it.
The same is true for our spiritual lives. When we hear God’s Word regularly, read the Bible daily, and associate with other Christians, our spiritual lives will flourish. Our spiritual lives die or wither when we listen to what the world tells us.
The world tries its best to convince us that God is wrong and the world is right. In Isaiah 55:13, Isaiah tells us, “Instead of the thorn bush will grow the pine tree.” God assures us that where his Word is heard, there faith will grow. Like the plant, we need our nourishment. We need to attend church services regularly, read our Bibles daily, and be around other Christians.
Isaiah states that God’s Word, whenever spoken, will never return to Him empty. This is true for you, too. God's Word will not return empty, but produce a spring in you "welling up to eternal life."
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How can hearing God’s Word regularly help my spiritual life? How can not associating with un-Christian people help my faith? How do I know God wants me after all I have done?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank God for loving us enough to always forgive us and want us. Ask God for the strength to stay away from the worldly temptations, and to cling to His guidelines for us. Ask God for the patience to read His word and live the life He wants us to.
