READ: Luke 7:11-17

One day, little Mike came home from kindergarten to find out his dog had died.  Mike cried for hours at the thought that his best friend was gone forever.  The following day when Mike came home from school, he was surprised to see the new little puppy his parents had bought.  They did not like to see their child in so much pain.

In many ways, we can relate this situation to our relationship with our Savior.  Jesus can feel our pain, too, when we are hurting.  He wants only to help us.  He promises us that all things will work out for our good.  In Luke 7, Jesus healed the widow’s son because He felt her pain.  Luke 7:13 says, “When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, ‘Don’t cry.’”  God wants us to come to Him when we feel pain and sorrow.  He always welcomes us with open arms when we need Him.

We must always remember that God loves us as a father loves his children.  He wants us to go to Him for help as if He were our earthly father.  God will always be there for us.  Be at peace in that promise.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:  What troubles have you faced that God was able to help out with?  How do we know that God cares about our problems?  When should we take the time to pray to God?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Thank God for all the times He has helped you through problems.  Ask God to help all the people in the world who are hurting and distressed.  Ask God to strengthen your faith in troublesome times.
