Facing Problems

READ: Psalm 24
During my freshman year of high school, I was having serious ankle problems and had to have surgery. After the surgery things went downhill. First, I was rushed to the emergency room and told that I might lose my ankle. The whole time I was thinking, “I’m only 14 years old, how could I lose an ankle?” At this time God drew me closer to Him through His Word, giving me the strength to overcome fear of losing the lower part of my left leg. Reality was really starting to “kick in.” I realized it was time to let God handle it then, and however it worked out, it would have to suit me. Because “the earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.”
My ankle did end up getting better, but I will always have some pain and a scar to remind me of what happened. As I went through physical therapy and recovered as much of the use of my ankle as I could, I needed to keep my LORD in sight at all times so I wouldn’t fall away. I needed to trust in Him who is “strong and mighty” like "the Lord mighty in battle.”
So, whenever you are going through difficult times, don’t be afraid to look to the LORD for guidance and strength, for He is the Lord God Almighty.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What are some of the things you have done when you are having problems? Are you more likely to go to God or to a friend with your problems? Whose advice were you more likely to take, your friend’s or God’s?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Help us to ask God for strength through good times and bad. Help up to pray for others who are struggling through tough circumstances. Thank God for always being there to talk to, no matter what the problem.
