READ: Philippians 4:4-7

“Sarah, clean up your room!  We’re having guests tonight, and I don’t want them to have a bad impression of our house.”  Sighing, Sarah started to pick up her clothes from the floor and throw them in the big chest next to my bed, where she knew nobody would look.  It didn’t feel right, but it worked.

We all have something like Sarah’s “big chest,” where we hide the parts of us that we don’t want other people to see.  While we show them our nice outward appearance, we keep our messed up parts to ourselves, afraid of what would happen if someone found out about them.  However, there is one person who knows and loves us with our whole being, even with our hidden “Chests and corners:” Jesus.  We can go to Him with thanks and our whole being, because He has forgiven even our darkest sins.  We experience the total peace of being known and loved, the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, and guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  What are the parts of yourself that you like to hide in your “chest?”  What should you do with them?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray that God will show you the parts you are hiding.  Thank Him for loving your whole being.  Ask Him to clean up every mess inside you and to stay by your side.
