Just One of Those Days

READ: Romans 5:1-5
Walking down the hall you notice someone looking at you while laughing. You don’t think much about it, until you see several others continuing the trend down the hallway. Later you find out that they were indeed laughing at you. They were making fun of you! And not only that, yesterday you broke up with your boyfriend or girlfriend and you failed the test you studied for all night!
I am sure that most people have had a day that felt like this. Unfortunately, we experience much in life that we would prefer not to go through. Paul tells us in Romans 5:3-4 that, “We rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” All of those hard times that we go through are given to us for a reason. God is trying to produce perseverance, character and hope in us by testing us. However, we know that we have hope because of what Jesus did. We have hope that even though things may be bad now, we will someday be in heaven because of what our Savior has done for us.
So, the next time you are just having one of those days, remember what is waiting for us and that God always knows what He is doing. That is something certainly to hope for.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What earthly things do you hope for? Is that even close to the same hope that God gives? Will the joys of heaven beat even our worst days?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray that God continues to provide us with hope and perseverance. Thank God for all the times He pulled you out of your worst days.
