READ: Ephesians 3:13-21

The word “love” in our English language is often over used.  I love pizza.  I love playing volleyball.  I love movies.  I love this song.  I love that color.  I love this country.  I love your shirt.

So many things can be described by the word “love.”  The word “love” covers many states of liking someone or something.  It is one word with many meanings.  You can say you love your brother and love your dog, but can you compare your brother to your dog?

God has a different view of love.  His love is complete, unconditional and unselfish.  His kind of love is hard for us humans to understand.  Even though we use the word “love” a lot, we still can’t understand all the dimensions of God’s love.  God is love, and He says in Ephesians 3:17-18, “I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”  When we begin to understand God's love for us, it deepens our love for Him and for others.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  How has Christ shown His love for us?  Can you fully understand Christ’s love?  What is some evidence in your life that Christ’s love is all around?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray that we can begin to understand all of the dimensions of Christ’s love and grow in the knowledge of His faithfulness.  Thank God that we have His Word to explore His love.  Pray that God will also listen to our prayers for mercy.
