Majestic Names
READ: Psalm 8
Have you ever heard a certain person’s name, and then your face would just light up? It is like when a little child hears that Christmas is coming, or if Michael Jordan had just scored 53 points. However, does your face light up when you hear the name of Jesus? Unfortunately, many people’s faces do not.
Why is it that you can get really excited hearing about a famous athlete, but not for Jesus? Jordan is not better than Jesus, so how come he seems to get more fame and glory? Jesus scored the ultimate goal for us. That goal is heaven, and thanks to Jesus’ great victory on the cross, we will be there one day celebrating that victory with Him.
Now compare the two: 53 points and heaven. Which sounds more majestic? Whenever you hear the name of Jesus, your face should light up knowing that He scored the winning goal for you. You, too, will be able to celebrate in heaven one day with all believers.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: When has your face ever lit up before? Who in this world takes the spotlight off of Jesus? Why do people forget about Jesus?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to help you keep your mind on Jesus. Pray for forgiveness when you don’t light up at Jesus’ name.
