Do Your Best for God

READ: Colossians 3:23-24
Andy was a pretty gifted athlete. His involvement is sports year round kept him pretty busy around the clock. When the weekends came, it was time for Andy to go to work to help pay for school. On the job, however, Andy was always “worn out” and “tired” when it came time for him to really work hard. You see, while Andy’s job wasn’t difficult, he never cared to put forth a true effort. He just slacked off and sat around after he was punched in. He definitely was not using his God-given abilities at his job.
God has blessed all of his children differently. However, it doesn’t matter if we are weaker in one area and stronger in the other, because God wants us all to glorify him through all our actions and whenever we use our abilities. God tells us this in Colossians when he says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Let us not be lazy or ungrateful, but rather shine like stars using all of our talents so that man can see us glorifying Christ in our attitude and our actions. Let us be lights, not just for special events or favorite activities, but let us be lights all the time, so the world sees clearly that we are children of God.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What are some talents or abilities you are hiding or misusing? When was the last time you thanked God for your gifts through your actions? How can you use your talents to the fullest?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask Jesus to help you appreciate your gifts by letting them shine before men that they may see you are glorifying God. Ask the Lord to help you to develop your gifts.
