Our Sins Are Forgiven

READ: Isaiah 6:1-8
We know that God is holy and expects us to be holy also. We also know that we are sinful human beings and that we do not measure up to God’s standard of perfection. We are only deserving of God’s wrath and punishment.
Isaiah realized this too. When God commissioned Isaiah to be a prophet, Isaiah was afraid because he was sinful and God is holy. However, Isaiah found out that he had been forgiven when an angel touched his lips with a hot coal and said, “See this has touched your lips, your guilt is taken away and your sins atoned for.”
The same is true for us Christians. We, too, know that we have not measured up to the standard that God expects of us. We also know that our sins have been forgiven. We know this because Jesus has died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus’ death and resurrection assures us that God has accepted Jesus’ sacrifice and has forgiven our sins.
Because Jesus died for our sins, we no longer need to be afraid of God’s wrath. We, like Isaiah, can approach God knowing that we have been forgiven of our sins and that our guilt and imperfections have been covered by Jesus’ blood.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Why was Isaiah afraid? How do we know that we have been forgiven? What should we do since we have been covered by Jesus’ blood?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to help us remember that Jesus died for our sins. Ask for His help to live a life according to His will and to tell others of what Jesus did for us.
