READ: Matthew 6:24-34
From what our American life style has shown us, technology gives us bigger, better and more expensive toys to make our lives easier. Society says, “Buy this, and you won’t have to worry about problem “X.” But this problem may have come up because of other so-called “improvements.” Somteims, more problems are created by trying to fix others.
God reassures us that He can make things simpler. He can get rid of all of the troubles we have in this high-stress world. Even though it is hard, we are asked to focus on Him and Him alone. He has always promised that He would provide for our every need. In verse 32 and 33, the writer says, “…your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” The good thing is that there is no cost, no yearly fee. Even better, this promise will never change. It won’t ever have to be updated or renewed.
In our time of grace, we shouldn’t have to worry. Verse 34 says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” God doesn’t want us to have stress-filled lives. We need not waste our time worrying, but we should take things day by day, and handle the problems as they come, knowing He is with us.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What does God promise that He will provide. How often should we call on His help when we are worried?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray for God’s help in school related stress. Pray that we can continue to focus on God’s promises for our lives. Thank God for His promise to always be with us in times of need.
