Christ, Our Comforter
READ: 1 Corinthians 15:56-57
This year my grandfather passed away. The days before he died, he said he would watch my next football game, but the night before the game he had a heart attack and died. I was hurt. I asked God, “Why?”
I looked to the Bible for comforting passages. I found 1 Corinthians 15:56-57 which says, “The sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
No matter what, things happen in our lives that hurt us. God takes the sting of the matter away from us all. God will always be there to comfort us in whatever problem we face.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What would you say to someone who has just lost a loved one? How would you react if you lost a loved one? What would you do to tell someone or yourself that this is God’s will?
