Comfort in Afflictions

READ: Isaiah 49:13-18
The other day I was talking to my friend Rod, an atheist. He was telling me how he felt no one cared much about him. I told him I sometimes feel the same way and I cry about it. He said to me, “I don’t have a God and I’m not crying. You have your God, and you are.” I told him God was the reason I stop crying.
Rob really made me think about how much God comforts me. He also made me think about how much I don’t realize it. So many times we forget our Lord is with us. So many times we think God has forgotten us. What we don’t see is that God is always beside us, walking with us wherever we go. He is the one who carries us through our problems, no matter what their size.
Isaiah 49:13 says, “For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.” When we find ourselves questioning whether God remembers us, He says, “I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.”
That is a promise we can be sure He will keep.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What are some times when you forgot God was there for you? How do you think God was helping you during those times? What can you do to remember that God will be there for you in the future?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray that people with problems may be comforted. Ask God to always be with us. Thank God for remembering us.
