The Ultimate Stain Remover

READJohn 13:1-15, 34

A while back I bought a new shirt and the first time I wore it I accidentally spilled something on it.  I immediately tried every stain remover I could find on it, but nothing worked.  Finally, I took it to the cleaners, and they were able to remove the stain.

Our situation with sins in our lives is very much like my illustration.  We all become stained with sins and think that we can remove the stains ourselves and attempt to do so.  But, much to our dismay, we are unable to do so.  Like the stain on the shirt, the only way we can wipe away our sins is by taking it to our spiritual cleaner, Jesus.

Jesus told His disciples in John 13:8 that unless He washes us, we have no part of Him.  We can’t be stubborn and think that we don’t need God to take away our sins, because we need to.  We need to forgive others when they sin against us and come to God for the forgiveness of our own sins.

Don’t be fooled, no matter how strong any other “cleaners” might seem, only God, the ultimate cleaner, can take away our sins.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  Where would you be without God’s forgiveness?  How do you show His forgiveness in your life?  Why do we sometimes not forgive others, even though God has forgiven us?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray that God would help you forgive others, even when it seems difficult.  Thank God for His wonderful, undeserved forgiveness.  Pray that everyone might see Christ as the one true path to forgiveness.
