The Bus Ride

READ: 1 Peter 4:12-19
Fred was sitting on the City Bus, coming home after school. Rather than just sitting there, Fred decided to read his Bible. While reading, a group of teenagers got on the bus. The group sat down a couple of rows behind him. While they were talking, one of them saw Fred with his Bible. The teenager said, “Hey, everyone, look at the religious freak.” They all laughed and continued to make fun of him. During this whole time, Fred did not say a mean word back. When Fred’s stop came, he walked past the teenagers and said, “Have a good day.”
Most of us wouldn’t be able to do what Fred did, but we must remember that we are doing this out of love for Christ. God may send hardships or persecutions our way, but we must remember that it is God’s will and remain caring towards others. It says in I Peter 4:19, “So then those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.” We know that God will never leave us and will help us to do good.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Have you ever been persecuted because of your faith? Do you think that you would remain able to do good while faced with persecution? Why do you think it is so hard for us to do good while being faced with persecution?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask Go to be with us when we are faced with persecution. Pray for help to do good always. Thank God for always being with us.
