Out of Darkness Into the Light
READ: Ephesians 5:8-14
I’m sure we’ve all done something did not reflect what God would really want us to do. How did it make you feel? Probably pretty ashamed, since we knew it was wrong in the first place. God tells us we are children of light, and we should have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness.
In Ephesians 5:8-14, God says He wants us to rebuke all evil and show everyone that we are His children. Since we do believe in God, everyone around us should be able to tell that. Whether it is through our words or actions, we should be reflecting God’s love at all times. When we know something is wrong, we should say something. God tells us we were once darkness, but now we are light! We have to make sure that we are always staying in the light and not crossing back over to the darkness. God tells us that if we do stick up for what is right and rebuke all evil that He will shine on us.
So, the next time we want to stick up for something, remember that we’re not alone. God will be with us to help us come out of the darkness and into the light.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Are you showing that you are a child of light? How? Think of times you stuck for what was right? How did you feel afterwards? When are some other times you could be a child of light?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to strengthen your faith and to give you the courage to stand up for what is right. Thank God for making you a child of light. Ask Him to help let your light shine.
