Are You Really Helpless?

READ: Psalm 46
Have you ever had one of those days when just about everything seems to be going wrong and nothing could ever help you? For most people, the answer is, “Yes.” We may have certain problems that seem absolutely unsolvable.
However, in Psalm 46, we see that this is not true. In verse one the psalmist says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.” With these words we are assured that we can remain calm even in the midst of the greatest troubles, even until the end of the world. Verse two also reassures us of this; “Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way, and the mountains fall into…the sea.” If God can help under these circumstances, He could certainly help any problem that we might have. God shows us that He will always be here for us, no matter what a situation may hold. Nothing is too big or too bad for God. We can be assured that we will never be “helpless.”
Take a look at the question in the first paragraph again. How does this apply to you? Well, now that we have seen what God will do for us, we can be comforted in all our times of trouble by the fact that, no matter what the situation is God will help us through it all.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What have you done in the past to try to feel better in times of trouble? How has it made you feel? How could you pray to God for help in times of trouble?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray that God would help strengthen you in times of trouble. Pray for a friend with troubles that God would help them. Thank God for always being with us to comfort us.
