READ: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 Christ tells us that no one knows the day or hour He will come, not even the angels. He says that He will come like a thief in the night and we should be prepared for His coming.
When I was a child, I can recall my mother saying, “Get ready, your father is coming home from work and he is going to take us out for dinner.” Since he worked in an office, we didn’t know what time he was going to be home. We just had to be ready for him. So, I got ready and a while later my father came and we all went with him to get something to eat.
We are all like the “little child.” There are pastors, teachers, and our parents to tell us to “get ready” for Christ’s second coming. What we should do is go to church on a regular basis, read the Bible every day, study God’s Word, and pray to God. When Christ does come, we can be spiritually ready, for no one knows when Christ will come again. We will just have to be prepared.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Are you spiritually ready for Christ’s second coming? Do you know for sure where you are going when He comes? What can YOU do to get ready for Christ’s second coming?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to strengthen our faith as believers in Christ. Pray to God to ask Him for us to be spiritually ready for His coming. Pray for reassurance that, without doubt, we are going to heaven. Ask for the courage to tell others about Christ.
