Some Things Never Change

READ: Revelation 21:6-8
Things in life are always changing. The seasons change, a person might move so that their place of living changes, or a person may decide that they need to change jobs, so that changes also. These days, school dances are quite popular, but in the 1950’s and 1960’s, these were rarely done. Dancing was considered quite a sin. Many things that we take for granted and are common now, were never even thought or heard of years ago. Technology has changed quite a bit in just the last few years alone.
Yet, just because all of these things change, there is one thing that will always remain the same, no matter what happens. That which never changes is God. How do we know this? Well, every day the sun rises and sets, we may not always be able to see it, but it does happen. Every year spring comes and life cycles start all over again. But, over and above all of this, God told Moses in the Old Testament, “I am.”
What does this mean? It means that God is always there. God never said, “I will be,” or “I was,” but he says, “I am.” He reinforces this in the New Testament by saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.” This means that he will never leave us or disappear on us. He is faithful to us as we should be to him. He has always been there, is always there now, and always will be in the future.
Through faith in our Savior, Jesus, we will join him in everlasting life in heaven.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What are some of the changes that have taken place in your life? How have you experienced the consistency of God’s love in your life? Can you find other examples in the Bible that show that God is unchanging?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask the Lord for help to live life in a God-pleasing manner. Ask the Lord for help to keep sight of him each day. Thank the Lord for always remaining the same and being the one you know you can count on.
