Why, Lord?

READRomans 8:28-30

One day, after coming home from church, Rob asked his parents if he could ride with his friend, Jon, who was driving to the mall.  They told him that he couldn’t go, and Jon went alone.  “Why?” Rob thought.  Later, he got a phone call.  It was Jon, and he had been in a bad accident, but his airbag helped him come out with only minor scratches.  The passenger side, however, had no airbag.  Now Rob saw that God had just saved his life.

Things like this rarely come along, but when they do, we may stop and think about what could have happened.  You can’t seem to understand why God did what He did.  This always happens when people scold you or yell at you for doing something wrong.  However, they do this to teach you a lesson, or to help you stop sinning.

In the end, you can “…know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.”  Even if you can’t see the effects of God’s actions, you can still know that He always works good for you.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  Think of a time when you figured out why God did what He did.  Think of a time when God did something that seemed to be bad for you.  Think of a time when God’s actions went “unexplained”.

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray for patience and self-control when you can’t figure out God’s actions.  Pray that God will bless you and work good for you.  Thank God for working good for you in the past.
