God Is Always There for You

READ: Psalm 27
In Psalm 27, God tells us that He will always be there for us; through everything we do, He will be by our side to guide, protect, and love us.
Have you ever been in a position where you feel God has left you? Or, maybe you have had second thoughts about your faith? Well, there was a boy named Scott, who felt the same way. Scott was on a basketball team that was supposed to take first place in a tournament. They played well for the first two games, but in the championship they played terrible, and ended up losing by 20 points to a team that they should have beaten. After the game, he went up to his parents and told them that they should have won and God must not care about him, and that he hated God.
That night, Scott’s dad went upstairs into Scott’s bedroom to talk to him. He also brought a Bible upstairs with him. His dad said that through everything that happens, God will be with you. In Psalm 27:1, it says that, “The Lord is my light and salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom should I be afraid?” God promises to be with us, no matter what we may be tempted to think. And he promises to forgive our sinful thoughts, too. God loves us as His children and would never leave us.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: When was the last time you felt that God has left you? What would you say to someone who felt the way Scott did in this story? How would you approach that person?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray for someone you know who doubts God’s love for them. Pray for God to always stay by your side. Pray for others that God stays with them and watches over them.
