Free Refills

READRevelation 21:6b

Have you ever gone to a restaurant that offered unlimited refills on sodas?  It’s a great feature, especially if you’re really thirsty and don’t have enough money for more than one soda.  Did you ever wonder, however, how these businesses make a profit from giving away something for nothing?  The truth is, soda itself doesn’t cost very much at all; it’s the packaging (the cup) that costs the most.

In Revelation 21:6b, everyone on earth is offered a drink and free refills from God.  “Anyone who is thirsty I will allow to drink without charge from the spring of the water of life.”  The beverage God is extending to all is the Gospel message of forgiveness of sins and eternal life one day in heaven with Him.  This “water” is free to anyone who is spiritually thirsty and willing to eagerly receive the message.

Actually, God’s offer of free refills is much better than any promotion of McDonald’s or Taco Bell.  We don’t even have to buy the cup in the first place to get more.  It’s almost as if God is standing behind the counter with an endless supply of soda saying, “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!” (Isaiah 55:1)  The water God offers is more precious than any kind of soda; it is able to give us everlasting life through Jesus.

The next time you stop by a fast-food place, be reminded of the much better offer we get from God that’s available to us at any time and any place: that we may drink, free of charge, the water of eternal life and thirst no more.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  How much do we have to pay for the water of life?  Why is God’s offer better than the free refills at McDonald’s?  How can we get this living water?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Ask for continuing help in overcoming our lack of thirst for the Gospel.  Ask for the Holy Spirit to enter the hearts of those who are thirsty and lead them to God’s free refills.  Thank the Lord for the amazing gift He offers us.
