God's Abounding Love
READ: Exodus 34:5-9
Do you eat a good meal everyday? Do you go home every night to a comfortable bed? Do you have nice clothing to wear everyday? I am sure that most of you have these things. Do you realize that the only reason we have these things is because of God’s grace?
In Exodus 34:6, it reads, “The Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness." God with His abounding love gives us these gifts which we take for granted every day. Some people don’t have these wonderful things. Some can’t even imagine them. Yet, we continually ask for more. We are never satisfied with what God has given to us. When we see something we want, we claim that we need to have it. When we feel this way, we need to understand that God loves us so much and no matter how much we think we deserve more, actually deserve nothing at all.
It is only the grace of God which allows us to keep these blessings and we should thank Him for them everyday. God embraces us with His abounding love and should praise Him whenever possible.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How do you feel when you see something you want and you know you can’t have it? Why aren’t we satisfied with what we have? How do you compare with those who don’t have food, clothing, or shelter?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God for help when you feel you are getting too materialistic. Ask God to help provide for those who don’t have the gifts we do. Thank God for all that He has given to you.
