Is there a Cost for Everything?

READ: Luke 14:25-33
Some may think there isn’t a cost for everything. Guess what? They’re wrong. For instance, I know a kid named Chad who is an outstanding football player. He has a talent that cannot be taught by anyone. The thing about Chad, however, is that he does not like to weight train or speed train. Chad also struggles with his grades at school. It seems like he is always on the border of being on the ineligible list. He has to pay the cost for both school and football. For football, he has to pay the cost of lifting weights at least three times a week and speed train at least twice a week. He has to do all this to be one of the top players in the state. He also has to pay the cost with school, just so he can be on the team.
There is a cost to be paid for everything. God talks about it in Luke 14:25-33. To be His disciple, you cannot hate anybody, not even yourself. You must have a loving, believing, and forgiving heart to be His disciple. We also need to “carry His cross,” as Luke 14:27 states. This means we have to be ready to suffer like His Son did for us. And by his Holy Spirit working through the Word, we can have that heart and face the suffering willingly and joyfully.
So, if anyone tells you there isn’t a cost for something, tell them they’re wrong, and ask them if they can look at the cross and still say that?
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What kind of costs do you pay for being Jesus’ disciple? What kind of costs do you pay daily for your goals? How often do you take things for granted and think many things are free?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank Jesus for paying the cost for our sins. Ask God that you not to take for granted the price he paid to redeem us. Ask God to help us daily with all of our costs we have to pay.
