Go and Make Disciples

READ: Acts 2:1-21
Acts 2:1-21 shares with us the account of Pentecost. The disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and given the ability to speak in many tongues and share God’s Word to all people. God used this miracle to spread the Word to other nations.
Logan was someone who had always picked up any language very quickly and was able to share his faith openly. One day his pastor asked him if he ever had thought of becoming a missionary. At the time he said, “No,” but wondered if he would have been able to do it.
Logan talked it over with his pastor and decided that he would take some classes to help him decide if he wanted to get into that field. He enjoyed it so much that he decided to go ahead with it. He became a missionary in Africa and God used him to bring the Good news to many people.
God tells us in the Bible to go out and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. That’s what the disciples did in Jerusalem and that is also what Logan did in Africa. You don't have to go to a foreign country to share God's Word. Share it everyday with those you come in contact with - you never know when or where God will choose to use you!
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Why is it that some people do not want to share their faith openly, instead, keep it quiet and not make more followers of Christ? In the text it said that some of the crowd made fun of the disciples because of what had happened. How do you think that made the disciples feel? If you were in the position of the disciples, how would you witness your faith?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to help us to be able to talk about our faith openly with non-Christians. Thank God for what happened that day in Jerusalem, because it teaches us that we should be witnesses for Christ.
