READRomans 8:35-39

At least once in life most people have questioned the purpose of what has happened.  I know that teenagers go through many changes and usually are followers because of peer pressure.  Changes in home life, school, and friendships are just a couple of things that cause teens to doubt God.  A situation that would cause you to ask, “Why me?” would be a car accident or a family member dying.  “Why me?” is a question everybody has asked because we are all sinful.  None of these things can separate us from God’s love.  God’s love is so strong for us that he gave his one and only Son to pay for our sins.

God and his love for us are stronger than the tragedies that befall us.  God is almighty and he has control over everything.  He uses life’s hardships to bring us closer to him and strengthen our faith.  At times, we will face the cold, real world that doesn’t share the same love for God.  There will be even more stress over deadlines, money, grades, and jobs.  This is a time when we need God the most, and when he is with us the most.  For none of these things, “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)  The outside world that we face is full of sin and we need to stay strong in knowing that God’s love for us is stronger than anything.

As you look ahead to your future, which is uncertain and possibly intimidating, just remember you’re not alone.  No matter how difficult your life may get, just remember that God is always on your side, generously pouring out his love to you.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  Why does God put these changes in our lives?  What does God’s love mean for our futures?  No matter what happens in our lives, what will we always know about God’s love?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Praise the Lord that he loves us so much that he will never abandon us.  Pray for a friend who seems to be losing hope in life, reminding him or her of God’s love.  Ask God to help you realize his love for you and ask for forgiveness for the times you have doubted him.
