READIsaiah 12:1-6

I remember sitting in church while the junior choir sang.  I daydreamed about wearing snazzy red robes and singing in the front of the church.  I couldn’t wait until I was old enough to harmonize in the junior choir.  I had one small hurdle to overcome.  I could not sing.  Let’s put it this way, I can’t carry a tune.

Then, I looked over at my mother while she gripped her hymnal.  Her piercing soprano voice melded and blended with the congregation as they sang Amazing Grace.  The haze was lifted for me.  Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the obviously tone deaf usher singing.  I suddenly realized you don’t have to be in the choir or even be a good singer to sing praises to the Lord.

Isaiah 12:5 says, “Sing to the Lord, for he has done marvelous things.”  We do not have to be a soprano, alto, tenor or bass to sing for the Lord.  The Lord has done so many wonderful things for us; we should want to shout His praise from the highest mountain peak to the lowest valley.

The Lord doesn’t mind if we are tone deaf.  He made us that way.  Sing His praise!

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  If you are thinking about how you sound when you are singing, what is wrong with your focus?  Which does God prefer—sing softly or loud silence?  If you can’t sing, how else can you praise Him during the service?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray that the Lord help you be sincere in your praises.  Pray the Lord blesses your praises.  Pray that your actions as well as your songs praise Him.
