Who to Admire

READ: Psalm 72
Everyone admires someone. Whom do you admire? Maybe it’s a superstar, an actor or actress, or maybe you even look up to your parents. Now ask yourself, why do you admire them? Are they smart, talented, wise, etc.? Well. would you change who you admire if I told you there’s someone who is all-knowing, all-powerful, everlasting, and righteous? He would be the perfect role model.
That perfect role model is the Lord. Psalm 72 states, “Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.” God should be our number one person to admire. He selflessly gives and never expects anything in return. This is stated in I Corinthians 10:33, which says, “…For I am not seeking my own good, but the good of many, so that they might be saved.”
God is the perfect person to admire. We should put our hope and trust not in sinful mortals, but rather in the immortal, perfect Lord of Lords. God wants us to declare His glory, proclaim His salvation, and sing and rejoice in Him. Let all praise, glory, and honor go to the number one superstar, Christ our Lord.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Why do we admire people? Why should we put our hope and trust in God? What can we do to make ourselves like our number one role model?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Pray to be more like our Lord; pray to help us not be like sinful creatures that we are. Also, ask God to give you strength to worship Him instead of idolizing others.
