READ: Psalm 3

Ever felt like everyone was out to get you?  Has it ever seemed like your friends just don’t understand and aren’t willing to help, in fact, being with them makes things worse?  Have your supposed friends ever been the problem?  Have you ever felt like nothing and no one can help you, and life is just completely out of control?

David wrote Psalm 3 when he was fleeing from his son Absalom.  His own flesh and blood had taken over the throne of Israel, convinced much of the nation to follow him instead of his Father, and was hunting David down to kill him.  When your family and subjects turn on you, where can you go?

David shares with us who he turned to, and beautifully reminds us of who we can always turn to, always count on – Our God and Savior, Jesus.  In this short Psalm, David acknowledges that everything, EVERYTHING necessary to get through a difficult situation (or any situation for that matter) comes from God.  God protects us, he hears our prayers and answers them, he sustains us, he calms our fear, he delivers us, he blesses us.  What a wonderful, powerful, trustworthy God we have!

When everything seems like it’s out of control and everyone is out to get you, you can count on God to be your guide, your defense, your encouragement.  He delivered you from sin, death and the devil, and gave you eternal life.  He can handle your daily struggles too!

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  How often do you forget that God is your strength and shield?  Do you only pray when you’re in trouble, or do you pray in praise and thanksgiving as well?  Does God always rescue you immediately?

THINGS TO PRAY ABOUT:  Pray for increased faith that relies fully and only on God.  Praise and thank God for the many times he has protected you or brought you out of trouble in your life.
