The List

READ: Psalm 15
Do you ever make lists? Some people make lists to help them set goals and see their progress. Others make lists so that they don’t forget what needs to be done. Still others make lists for the simple joy of crossing things off and eventually completing the list. Lists are useful, helpful, satisfying.
Psalm 15 presents a list that, for the Christian, represents joyful service to our Savior Jesus. If you compare this list to the Ten Commandments, you’ll see a lot of parallels. But check out the promise at the end, “He who does these things will never be shaken.” What an awesome comfort from our God, especially in a world with so little certainty! As we carry out God’s will, as we serve him joyfully, he promises to be our solid Rock and firm foundation. He will never leave us, he will not forsake us, he will guide us, and he will bless us.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Make a list of practical ways you can carry out the things in Psalm 15 today. Connect which commandments match up with the things listed in Psalm 15.
THINGS TO PRAY ABOUT: Ask God to forgive you for the times you have not carried out the acts of Psalm 15. Ask God for the joyful will to do the things in Psalm 15 daily. Thank God for every opportunity he gives you to serve him.
