The King of Glory

READ: Psalm 24
What country is the most powerful in the world? The United States? China? Russia? England? Many people might consider their home country to be the most powerful, no matter what the size. Others might pick the one that’s in the news the most, or the one with the most people, or the one with the biggest military, or the one with the most advanced technology.
Back when monarchies were the most prevalent form of government, kings would demonstrate their power through military conquests. Babylonians, Persians, Romans, Ottomans, Germans...all have attempted to take over the world.
Psalm 24 reminds us that, no matter whom the world power is at any given time, the earth and everything in it still belongs to him. He created it, he sustains it and watchers over it, He paid for its inhabitants sins, and he will come to take those who believe in Him to heaven. He comes as the King of glory and reigns in the hearts of those who believe by the power of His Holy Spirit through the Word, and he will return in all his glory on the last day to judge the world.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How does verse 5 point to Jesus? What battles have Jesus fought and continues to fight for us?
THINGS TO PRAY ABOUT: Thank God for glorifying you by faith through the death of his Son Jesus. Ask God for clean hands and a pure heart that glorifies him in thought, word and deed every day.
