READIsaiah 65:17-25

Memories – they are all around—good and bad ones.  Most of our memories are good, but the bad ones just seem to never leave.  We try to do different things to forget the bad ones so that we can enjoy all of the good ones.  However, are any of these memories that we have going to mean anything in heaven?

Isaiah 65:17, “…the former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.”  gives us our answer.  No matter what sticks in our mind here on earth will have no meaning to us once in heaven.  Verse 18 tells us that we should rejoice and be glad for what God will create, because He will create delight and joy in His people.  There will be no more sorrow, no more pain, and no more sin.  Our life in heaven will be filled with triumph and happiness; with smiles that will last forever.

We should be very thankful for a God who created life for us that is so great that memories are not even needed.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  How has God helped you forget any bad memory?  What can you do to help a friend who is caught up in memories?  What can you do to help yourself from falling into your own memories?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Pray to God for help to remember what is prepared for us in heaven.  Thank God for preparing a place for us that will have no memories from our life on earth.  Ask for help to be glad and rejoice in what is in our future.
