He Was In Our Shoes
READ: Hebrews 5:7-8
Jeremy felt terrible. In the past two days he had lost his job, forgotten about a paper that was due, had a fight with his best friend, and was really far behind in his classes. Every one of us have experienced what Jeremy did at some time in his/her life. We all know what it is like to face pressures from many different places. Because of sin, we run into many problems, temptations, troubles, and sorrows every day.
Living on earth is not easy, but we have one understands that just as well as we do - Jesus. He came to earth, become one of us, and put Himself in our place, experiencing what we do now. Yet, he was without sin. Hebrews 5:7-8 says, “During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and … Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.”
A perfect example of Jesus' obedience was the night He was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was about to go through more than anyone would ever know, and He would do it completely alone. He has also faced the temptations of everyday life, and He understands what we are going through. What better person to help us through our struggles as Christians? He is there to help us with our troubles, no matter how big or small!
