Just Passing Time
READ: Luke 23:43
Julia was watching the evening news when the story broke. The United States had gone to war in the Persian Gulf. She felt instantly sick and dismayed at all the evil that the world is filled with. The news anchor had reported all the information he had and said he would “just pass time” with other news until he had an update.
The life of a Christian is a lot like this. In a way, we are “just passing time” here on earth. While that may be a wonderful comfort, so is this passage found in Luke 23:43, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” We are “just passing time” until we are with our Father in paradise.
Jesus gives us purpose while we "pass time" here on earth - passing on the message of salvation through Christ to everyone around us. Our job is to witness, that others may share in this joy that we have.
