Faith In Action

READ: Joshua 2:1-21
Can you honestly say that you not only believe in the Word, but live it as well? God gives us opportunity every day of our lives to put our faith into action, and to learn and grow by acting on those opportunities. He wants us to live God-pleasing lives. We all claim to believe in God, but how often is our faith visible through our actions?
Rahab, a prostitute, proved her faith by her deeds. Rahab risked her life to protect the lives of two spies sent to her city of Jericho by God’s people. Rahab is the only woman other than Sarah who is mentioned by name in the famous roll call of the faithful in Hebrews 11. The fact that Rahab was a prostitute, a sin severly shunned by even many non-Christians, shows how amazing God’s grace really is. Even though we are all sinners, he will not cast us out. Faith is a precious gift of God, one that we should be thankful for. By His saving message, He turned Rahab’s heart from fear to complete confidence in Him. The Lord showed Rahab mercy and planted faith in her heart just as He did for each and every one of us. Because God did this, kind deeds flowed from Rahab’s heart. This is the Lord’s plan for all who know His grace.
Witnessing about our Lord is never wasted. We can witness by simply living our faith. Look at what the Lord did for a prostitute when someone witnessed to her about our gracious, compassionate Lord. She devoted her thoughts and actions towards her new life as a child of God and realized that, “The Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below.” (Joshua 2:11) Because of this she has set a great example for us all. We should abandon our old sinful ways and consider ourselves new people under God’s grace and live our faith in our actions in light of His promises.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: We as Christians must ask ourselves: Am I a complete Christian? Do I do my best to please God? Is my faith evident in all that I do?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask for forgiveness for not always living our faith. Thank God for the amazing grace that He has shown us, despite our imperfections. Ask that the Lord continue to strengthen our faith every day and that He give us the courage to prove it in our actions.
