Not Much To Look At

Exodus 4:20 - So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand.
Wow! Here’s the leader of Israel--the man who’s going to bring the most powerful nation on earth to its knees. He has a donkey’s lead in one hand and a shepherd’s staff in the other. Not much to look at; people probably didn’t even take notice of them on the road. A lot like you and me.
We have the message of the Creator of the universe. All he asks of us is to take the message to the people on earth that don’t know it. We’re not much to look at though. We think we don’t know enough of the message to do a good job. Is it that we don’t think we’re good enough, or do we think we’re too good? Could it be we think we’re the best to judge who will listen and who won’t? That’s Satan and our sinful-self getting in the way.
Thank Jesus! He paid for all our sins—every last one of them. Even though we don’t look like much in the world's eyes, he makes us worthy to carry his message to the whole world—even if we don’t think they’ll listen. We can do it!
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What things in life tend to get in your way of putting God first and serving him with all your heart? With God's help, how can you work to change that?
PRAYER SUGGESTION: Dear Jesus, You make me worthy to do your work on earth. Forgive me when I stumble. Help me recognize the chance to tell someone about you. Amen.
