Toilets R Us

Philippians 2:7…but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
How would your parents react if you told them that you’ve decided college isn’t for you, that you chosen instead to begin your own bathroom cleaning service. Toilet’s R Us. They’d love it, wouldn’t they? How long do you think it would be before you’d see the car keys again?
Imagine that you belonged to a royal family and you told your parents that decided to give up all the riches and become a homeless wanderer. You were leaving the palace to go on a walking tour of the Middle East. “Don’t worry, Dad, food isn’t all that important. I’ll find something to eat.” That would go over big too, wouldn’t it?
Now imagine you are the King of the universe, that angels worship you day and night, that the earth revolves only because you allow it to and that you could wipe it out and start over any time you wanted to. But you don’t want to. Instead, you set aside all the glory and take the mess that other have created upon yourself. You give up EVERYTHING, including your life, for the little people.
Jesus did just that when he left the heavenly realms, took on human flesh, and then paid the price for mistakes that you and I create. Jesus gave up his pad for our bad! What an unbelievable Savior we have! Our God is indeed and awesome God!
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Shortly before this, God tells us through Paul that our attitude should be the same as Jesus. How do you make yourself nothing or a servant in your daily life?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to give you a heart of service for others. Ask him to forgive you for the times you've placed yourself above others. Thank him for his underserved love to you in Jesus.
