The Road to Success

Psalm 126:5-6 - Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying the sheaves with him.

"The road to success is always under construction." This was a one-line sermon, which was often preached by a football coach. The main idea is the work to achieving a goal is continual. The return of the Israelite captives from Babylon was thrilling. However, there was much rebuilding work to be done. They would have to work hard, but the result would be tremendous.

We were saved by the blood of the Lamb. This is thrilling. Yet, as long as we are this side of our heavenly goal, we will have struggles with sin. Our road is under construction. We have had many struggles with sin in the past. They brought us to tears. We will have struggles with sin in the future. They occur to bring us closer to God. As we move forward, let us cling to the promise that all things work out together for good for those who love God.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What spiritual tension does the ongoing struggle with sin cause you?  How does it draw you closer to God?

PRAYER SUGGESTION: Dear Lord, Give me patience as you direct my life for me for my eternal good. Amen.
