Your Own Opinion

"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" (Matthew 16:15)
Sometimes it is difficult to make your own decisions or form your own opinions. As young people we are constantly influenced by friends, family, and the world around us. Do you find it challenging to draw your own conclusions when your ears are filled with "what everyone else is saying?"
When Jesus asked the disciples, "Who do you say I am?" they might have struggled. This potential struggle could have stemmed from what they were hearing from the local people. Some people thought Jesus was John the Baptist, Elijah, or Jeremiah. But this was not a struggle for the disciples because they knew Jesus as their Savior. They were sure of this because of what Scripture said and because they had been witnessing firsthand Christ’s work here on earth.
As a child of God, you also can confess this with the same confidence, knowing that no outside influence can sway what you hold true. May we always remember this and ask God to keep us strong and focused on who he is and what he has done for us.
