Trusting Only Thee

READ: John 14:1-4
It was an ordinary week night and I was down in my room doing my homework, when there came a knock on my door. I opened it to see my mom, half in tears, trying to tell me that Grandma had just been rushed to the hospital. She didn’t say much, except that Grandma was having bad headaches and had fainted. She started to cry harder, so I hugged her for a while. Trying to calm her down, I told her everything was going to be ok.
As my dad started to explain to me what it could be and the seriousness of what could happen, the reality and worrying started to settle in. My parents left me at home to watch my little sisters while they went to the hospital. I can remember so many things going through my head at once. Why was this happening to her, she still has so much love to give? Why did God want to take her from this world so quickly without any warning?
Before my thoughts got out of control, I stopped myself and just started to pray. I asked God the same questions I asked myself, but deep down inside, the only thing that gave me hope and reassurance was knowing where she would go if she were to die.
It all came down to a basic trust and love in God. Without faith in God, we are all helpless; but with faith, He promises to strengthen us and bring us through times of trouble.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What does the Bible say about our trust? Why do you think God allows bad things to happen to us?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank God for sure promises to hang on to. Ask God for stronger faith and understanding.
