Our Heavenly Map
READ: Psalm 119
When people are driving on a long trip, they often look at a map. They want to know which road to take to get where they want to go. The map directs them. It shows them the way.
In order to get to heaven, we need to know the way. God has chosen to give us the Bible as that road map. A map not only shows the way to get somewhere, it also shows what we will see along the way. It shows the towns we must pass and the lakes and mountains we’ll go by. A good map also shows the detours we must take so we won’t get lost or stuck in a deceitful world.
In all these ways the Bible is like a map. Through it, God shows us our sinfulness, our need for a Savior, and Jesus who has paved the road to heaven for us. That’s why we study the Bible - to discover and believe God's road map for us to salvation and life eternal.
