The Breath of Life

READ: Isaiah 40:26-31

I am a member of the cross-country and track teams at my high school. I also suffer from asthma. This combination does not mix well. When I’m running, I often struggle not to give up as I gasp for every breath. Even thought there is air all around me, sometimes I can’t seem to take any in. Fortunately, I have an inhaler. A puff from this inhaler supplies the medicine needed to allow my lungs to take in the air necessary to keep pushing on.

The Lord is like an inhaler. The suffocation of the temptations and problems in our lives can seem overwhelming, and it sometimes feels like you'll be consumed. The answer to these problems are right in front of me, but I can’t seem to grasp them. That’s when I Jesus steps in. He gives me the relief I need from the problems of the world so I can further push on in the run of life. He is the breath of life.

Wouldn’t it be foolish if I didn’t us the inhaler that relieves my struggles to breath? It would be even more foolish not to rely on the Lord who promises to relieve me from life's struggles. The Lord can and will give you comfort from the anxieties of life as you put your hope in Him.

Won’t you rely on the Lord to renew your strength?

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How does God renew your strength in everyday life? Why does He do this?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank God for being there to relieve you from times of “suffocation.” Take every problem and struggle to Him who will help you.
