READ: Proverbs 27:1

How often do you find yourself putting things off until the last minute? This happens to be a weakness with many people, especially young adults. Procrastination is a bad habit, and an extremely difficult one to break.

It’s like that book report that’s due Friday, but you haven’t even chosen a book yet. You’ve known the due date for over a month now, but why start so far ahead? You might say, “I’ll do it later”.

Well, now it’s Thursday, and the only “later” you have left is after school tonight, but you had planned on going to the game. Obviously, you know that you should go home and work on it, but will you?

This is the sort of trouble you get into when you put things off. Unfortunately, we all do it sometimes, and some people have a more difficult time with it than others.

What would happen if we put off going to church, and we put off praying, or if we put off God all together? Before we know it, it just might be too late.

In Proverbs, Solomon tells us not to get concerned with tomorrow, because who know what will come up today. Take care of the things that need to get taken care of—the sooner the better. Besides, wouldn’t it be nice to get things done early and ahead of schedule? That way you will have less to worry about down the road.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Does God ever procrastinate when it comes to us? What might happen if He did?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God for help to get organized. Thank God for covering the failures and mess-ups.
