Fight!

READ: Deuteronomy 5:16
I’m sure everyone has gotten into a fight with their parents. Some are worse than others. Some for no reason—maybe just because you had a bad day and just had to yell at someone.
Maybe you got into a fight with your parents because they’re trying to discipline you because you did something wrong. Some people have a good relationship with their parents; and on the other hand, some don’t.
Even though you may get into fights with your parents often, you should still treat them with respect and obey them. God gave us our parents to help and encourage us to grow in the Word, not to make life harder for us. They sometimes discipline us because we made a mistake and they don’t want us to make that same mistake again. As we look to the perfect example of Jesus following his Heavenly Father's will, strive to give your parents the respect they deserve and obey them just as Jesus did.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Do you give your best effort to obey your parents? Do you give them the respect they deserve? How can a teen communicate effectively without causing a fight?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask for tact so the words you speak will be constructive. Thank the Lord for patience with us when we fail to be obedient or respectful.
