READ: Job 1:2-10

A few years ago there was a song on the radio titled, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy!” The theme of this song was that we should not let earthly problems burden our lives down; instead, we should be happy in the fact that we are able to live each day.

What a Biblical meaning this song has! Throughout the history of the world, man has always worried about storing up material things for himself, keeping out of debt, and other earthly problems. However, through the example of Job, God shows us that our faith in Christ is worth more than any physical possession could ever be worth. No matter how bad a situation seems, we can know that God will always be there to help us through it. Our material possessions could be erased in minutes, but our faith, strengthen by the Word, Baptism and Holy Communion, can never be taken away. We may still find some challenges in our lives, but God has promised us that He will never send us something that we (with God's help and by his grace) can’t handle.

The next time you come to a challenge in your life that you think you will never get through, go to God for help. Talk to Him through prayer. You have His promise that He will listen to you, and will answer you when and how he sees best. God will always answer our prayers—maybe not in the way we think they should be answered, but only God has the omniscience to know what is best for us!

So go and tell someone how happy you are to be a believer in Christ who has promised the gift of heaven! You may even be able to help others through a tough time of theirs.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What type of things get you down? Why? What makes you feel better about a problem?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God to help you go to Him in all times of trouble for help. Thank Him for listening to and answering all of your prayers.
