READ: Ephesians 2:8

Ephesians 2:8 is such a wonderful passage. It may take a while to fully understand it, but by the power and insight of the Holy Spirit, its richness becomes apparent.

The first in understanding this verse is considering what grace really it.  Grace is defined as the underserved love God shows us. The next step is defining faith. Faith is believing without seeing. This is a very serious love passage, because if it had not been for God's grace, where would any of us be?

Humans can be very independent and tend to think they can do everything on their own. But the truth is, we are desparately dependent on Jesus. If it had not been for God’s grace and love, we wouldn’t have the gift of eternal life.

Although we may feel or act quite independent, salvation is not something we can get on my own. We must depend on an outisde source; we can depend on God and His promises. The truth of the matter is that everything good comes from God, and for that, we give him thanks and praise!

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Where have you seen or experienced God’s grace at work in your life? Since God’s grace is already a gift to us, how can we ever be outside it? What do Christians have to boast about?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank the Lord for His gifts of grace and faith. Ask for the courage to boast about His love and to give you the willingness to be a faithful example for others.
