Safe at Last

Proverbs 18:10 - “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

How do you deal with life's problems?  Many times, we run from them, finding anything we can to distract us, or side-step the problem, or hide from it.  Most of the time, however, running from our problems only leads to more problems, and before we know it, we're drowning, helpless, and maybe even hopeless...

God offers us a better solution. Each day we are surrounded by the evils of this world and the evil in our own hearts. It’s hard to avoid all the gossip, lies, and everything else that tempts us to stray. We may find ourselves giving in giving in to those temptations in weakness, trying to cover up sins only to dig ourselves into a deeper whole. Running may seem like the best thing to do, but that only the case if we are running to the LORD.  Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Going to the LORD is the best thing - the only thing - to do. We can't withstand temptation on our own.  And we can't deal with our sin and guilt on our own either.  But God promises that he is waiting for us with open arms! He is listening, and he does care!  Anytime, anywhere, if we are in danger or in need of forgiveness, comfort, healing or hope, the LORD will be there. He is our protection, he is our shelter. There is no safer place than than dwelling with the LORD.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: Do you go to the LORD when you feel troubled? Do you try to run from dangers yourself? Will you seek the LORD the next time you need help?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank the LORD for always being there. Ask that you may remember him when in trouble. Pray you don’t hide yourself from troubles but seek him in time of danger.
