Love for Sinners

READ: Isaiah 59:12-20
As school let out for another day, Dana saw Jessie over by the steps crying softly. It seemed as if nothing would placate her. Jessie had it so firmly in her mind that she was too awful to be forgiven, that she had nearly given up her Savior.
So, Dana shared a passage that she had always turned to in times like these.
Isaiah 59 begins by telling us what awful sinners we are, just the way Jessie felt about her life. "Our offenses are many in His sight," yet, further on, it speaks to us of the undying mercy our Lord has for us, "The Redeemer will come to Zion." This redeemer is Jesus, who, according to the Father's will, has come and gave himself up for us on the cross.
What greater love is there that of giving one's life for another? Like the Old and New Testament believers, and Jessie, you and I can be confident in the fact that there is a God in Heaven that loves, cares and even sacrificed His only son for you, me and the whole world.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: How would your life be different today if Jesus hadn't suffered your hell on the cross at Calvary? Imagine you were an Old Testament believer, what comfort would you receive in Isaiah's prophecy? How would that change your day to day actions?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Thank the Lord for His wonderful grace and forgiveness. Ask for the strength to be confident in the good news of forgiveness. Pray that Christ's death be an ever present reminder of how our lives should be lead.
