Our Keeper

READ: Psalm 24
Have you ever been so angry at someone that you’ve just wanted to do something to them to get even? Like that bully in your gym class who always picks on you for your lack of athletic ability? Or the smartest kid in the class who can't stand the questions you ask? Have you ever just happened to walk by his or her locker and noticed that he forgot to lock it? The thought may cross your mind to take something, or throw garbage in there, or something else. In these cases our Old Adam tries to convince us that it is alright to get revenge, even if it means disobeying God. After all, it's their fault. They picked on you first, right?
God has a different view of things. Everything we have has been given to us by God. David states in Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it…” How would you feel knowing that you are taking something that belongs to God?
God has given us everything we have in the world. From the air that we breathe to the money in our pockets, it is all God’s. He has given us these things to enjoy and to share generously with others. With all these gifts we should joyfully live to please God in all of our words and actions.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT: What do you do when tempted to do wrong? How do you share the wealth God has given you? What has helped you through times of temptation?
PRAYER SUGGESTIONS: Ask God for help to do the right things. Ask for help in protecting what He has made us. Thank Him for all He has given you.
