Not our works, but God's

READMicah 6:6-8

Have you ever had one of those days where you are just on top of the world?  Everything seems to be going right, and you feel like a million bucks.  Sometimes a person in this situation might say (and maybe you have too, or at least thought it), "I must be doing something right!"

The blessings of God in our lives have nothing to do with what we've done.  It is because He is a loving and forgiving God, who sent His Son to make us blameless.  Nothing we can do will wash away our sins, nor can anything we do earn God's favor.  Nothing we have to offer will make up for our faults, nor will anything we do begin to pay God back for everything he's done for us.  It is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that allows us to be called God’s children, as it says in verse 8: “He has shown you, O man, what it good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

So, the next time you are having one of those awesome days, remember that it is a blessing from God, not because of anything you've done, but because of God's great love.  And then, thank Him by how you live and what you say!

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:  What do you do to thank God for your “good days?”  What are some good things you’ve done on those days?  How do you let others know that your good deeds are out of love for God, and not to make up for your sins?

PRAYER SUGGESTIONS:  Ask God to help you remember who gets the credit for your good days.  Pray that God will help others realize that God makes them blameless, not good works.  Thank God for all the good days He has given you.
